Desert Botanical Gardens | Rocky's Auto CreditIf you’ve never been to a botanical garden, you should check out the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona. It provides a detailed look at the plant and animal life found in the desert. While many may think the desert is a barren wasteland, it’s actually home to many different species of plants and animals that would be hard to see if you were to explore it yourself. With that said, if you’re in the Phoenix area, here are several spring events to explore at the Desert Botanical Garden.

Cacti, more than any other plant, are known for living in the desert. While some people associate them with desert climates, most know relatively little about different varieties of cacti. The Desert Botanical Garden is hosting an event to expose people to different species of cacti that grow in different areas of the desert. You can visit the Cactomania exhibit to learn more about this plant life as well as help the Desert Botanical Garden raise awareness of environmental damage that threatens cacti around the world.

Spring Butterfly Exhibit

This season, the Desert Botanical Garden is hosting the Spring Butterfly Exhibit from March to May to help you learn more about butterflies. Butterflies play a big part in the management of the desert ecosystem by pollinating plants and spreading seeds across the dry landscape. The Desert Botanical Garden has 3,200 square feet of Butterfly Pavilion birdhouses with a wide variety of butterfly species in replicas of their natural habitat. You can get a close look at different butterflies and learn more about how you can help protect them from environmental damage and habitat loss..

Behind-the-Scenes Horticultural Tours

If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to develop and maintain a horticultural center, you’ll get your chance to find out this spring. The Desert Botanical Garden will be doing behind-the-scenes tours of its new horticultural facility. If you’re interested, you can sign up for a tour on the organization’s website. They last nearly 45 minutes, and you get to explore the inner workings of multiple parts of the organization’s facilities.

Tour guides take you through a detailed explanation of how each area is developed and managed to provide the greatest impact on visitors and their ability to learn about new things. A large part of the organization’s focus is on preserving different aspects of the desert environment, which means you’ll be able to learn how you can contribute to the organization’s operations as well as in your own life.

Phoenix’s Desert Botanical Garden always hosts spring events that draw crowds from all over the area. The desert is a significant part of the global ecosystem, and the Desert Botanical Garden works hard to ensure that they can help protect the environment. There is plenty to do and experience at the garden, so check it out if you’re looking for something new to try this season. You’re sure to find something interesting that you can do again every spring.
